Sunoco Inc. Philadelphia Refinery - 1232 Project
Commerce Construction was hired to install the foundation piles for a new unit inside of the Sunoco Philadelphia Refinery. In addition to the foundation piles for the new 1232 Cracker Unit, Commerce also completed all of the foundation piles for a new crane pad. The purpose of the new crane pad was to accommodate the 1000 ton Lampson Crane which was used to lift and set the new 1232 Cracker Unit.

Harrah’s Chester Racetrack and Casino - Abutment / Piling Installation
Through a Joint Venture with Buckley and Company, Commerce was hired to construct a relieving platform as part of a component for a harness racing track. Two key components of the relieving platform were a North Abutment and a West Abutment. Each of the abutments consisted of sheet piles, pipe piles, tie-rods, and cast-in-place concrete.

Exelon Power (Blackrock and Norristown Fish Passages) - Cofferdam Installation
Commerce Construction served as the general contractor for the construction of two fish passage facilities for Exelon Power at dams along the Schuylkill River, West of Philadelphia. The passage facilities were installed to enable the seasonal migration of native fish, around dam structures that were built in the early 1900’s. The successful installation of (2) sheet pile cofferdams was critical to this projects’ success.
